Isabel Martin’s love for horses was strong from an early age, riding her first pony before she could walk She competed in local shows and Pony Club as a youngster. During her teenage years, Isabel trained with Grand Prix dressage riders Libby and Jules Anderson gaining valuable experience with both young and top-level horses as a working student. After graduating from high-school, Isabel expanded her horizons working in Germany for 6 months to complete an IAES Trainers course, which included an internship at a famous jumper barn. Upon returning home, Isabel honed her craft with young horses at Hill Top Farm in Maryland, where she focused on young horse development, foal inspections and backing and training for FEI Young Horse classes.
In addition to an affinity for bringing along young horses in multiple disciplines, Isabel also worked for a large-animal ambulatory veterinary practice for 8 years, giving her a leg-up on sport horse injury rehabilitation and all aspects of equine athlete care. It was during this time that Isabel set out on her own, riding and training client’s horses and showing in both the jumper ring and eventing.
Isabel is an enthusiastic, patient, and encouraging instructor who trains students of all ages, levels, and disciplines. While she particularly enjoys setting up young children with the proper foundation, she is also well versed in training adult amateurs, focusing on correct position and body awareness.
